MISSION HILLS CHINA CONTINUES DRIVE TO GROW WOMEN'S GOLF

[Tokyo, Japan – 25th April 2019] Tenniel Chu (pictured right), Vice-Chairman of the Mission Hills Group in China presents Martin Slumbers, Chief Executive of The R&A with a Women in Golf Charter from Mission Hills, signed previously by Mr. Chu and golfing-legend Annika Sorenstam during the ninth ANNIKA Invitational at Mission Hills in Shenzhen last month. The charter pledges a continued commitment by the world's largest golf facility to supporting women's golf in China.

Martin Slumbers, Chief Executive of The R&A said, “We see encouraging more women and girls to play golf as the biggest opportunity to grow our sport. It really is the future for golf and we are working hard to make it happen. The Women’s Charter is a commitment from the sport to do more to bring women and girls into golf and we are delighted that a club as prestigious and prominent as Mission Hills in China has signed up to this vision. They have a huge role to play in welcoming women to the sport and we look forward to working with them on delivering on this commitment in the years to come.”

The presentation took place during the inaugural R&A Asia-Pacific Advisory Committee meeting at The Royal Golf Club in Japan, venue for the 2019 Women's Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship being played from April 25-28.
