Discover a collection of 93 buildings, featuring architectural styles and and culture from four major cities along the Yangtze River – namely Shanghai, Nanjing, Wuhan, and Chongqing –during the 1920s to 1940s. Among them, 20 buildings have been completely restored according to old photos, including the Xishan Bell Tower in Wanzhou, Chongqing, the Cathay Theater in Chongqing, the Rongguang Theater in Shanghai, the Xinhua Daily News Bureau, as well as the Wang Kai Photo Studio, Shikumen, and Yaolu building in Shanghai. Behind each building lies a memorable story to be reminisced. The streets of Chongqing that are featured in the movie "1942" are also located in this zone.
This was the key location of renowned director Feng Xiaogang's 2017 New Year film – “Youth”. This zone fully reflects the architectural styles and lifestyle of the military art troupe compound in the 1970s. Classic sets include the huge mural of Chairman Mao's portrait, the People's Post and Telecommunications Office, the troupe dormitory, basketball court, rehearsal hall, swimming pool, and military depot.
Sited along a 300-meter waterfront, this zone features 65 Nanyang style buildings incorporating Chinese and foreign architectural elements. These include signature characteristics such as contemporary memorial archway, wharf, and bell tower among others. Visitors can also experience the trades of Nanyang, from martial arts academies, pawn shops, and tailors, to medicinal and herbal tea shops, as well as bakeries. Immerse yourselves in a journey to Southeast Asia, just as the Chinese did in one of its three migration waves in history.
Travel back in time to Old Beijing, with 92 buildings created to restore the architectural style and historical charm in the 1970s, the era in which New China was founded. The tall and majestic Soviet-style buildings, the exquisitely carved Ming and Qing buildings, and the hutong courtyards that best embody the historical style and cultural essence of Old Beijing are arranged symmetrically along the central axis. Visitors can choose to hop on a tram or take a leisurely stroll through the street as the bell tower chimes loud and clear, as they truly immerse themselves on set.
Drawing on the Avenue of Stars in Hollywood and Hong Kong, this 200m-long boulevard features the handprints and signatures of nearly 200 local and international film and television stars, as well as directors who have visited Movie Town. The 1.2m tall ArtDeco base is made from a single-slab marble, perfect for capturing memories with prints of your favourite stars.
Featuring the distinctive architectural complex of Rock Hill villages in Haikou’s volcanic region, this zone recreates the beautiful countryside of Haikou set against the backdrop of natural volcanic pits, with a lighthouse at its heart. Immersive experiences here include traditional handicraft such as sugarcane crushing, brown sugar boiling, and fabric art of the Li tribe. Children can also get up close with squirrels in a theater and feed other animals, while a farmers' market offers Haikou's local produce. A themed boutique inn mimicking volcanic dwellings also offers visitors a unique accommodation option.
